Honouring National Day for Truth and Reconciliation: Introducing our Indigenous Land Acknowledgment Statement

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation falls on Monday, September 30. This is a time for us all to come together in unity, empathy, and respect. It is a day to acknowledge the painful truths of our past and commit ourselves to a future of understanding, healing, and collaboration with Indigenous peoples across our country.

As an organization, Bee-Clean is committed to fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace that recognizes the importance of diversity and Indigenous voices. Bee-Clean is proud to introduce our National land acknowledgement statement, as well as custom Indigenous land acknowledgment plaques for each of our branch offices nationwide.

These plaques will be distributed in the coming weeks, allowing each office to hang their plaque proudly for staff and clients to view. These custom plaques are designed to remind us daily of the historical and cultural significance of the land on which we operate. Each plaque is carefully written to recognize the local First Nation, Métis, and Inuit peoples who have long stewarded these lands.

Bee-Clean commissioned Sayisi Dene artist Nahanni Giuricich from Calgary, Alberta, to create artwork for our plaques that would pay a visual tribute to the landscapes and Indigenous cultures that have shaped these regions from the West Coast to the Atlantic provinces. We are honoured by the beautiful work Nahanni has done and know these plaques will be viewed for years in our branches across Turtle Island.

At Bee-Clean, we recognize that reconciliation is an ongoing journey that requires dedication and commitment from all of us. As we commemorate the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, let us also remember that every action, no matter how small, can contribute to positive change and healing in our country.

As a national company, Bee-Clean Building Maintenance is dedicated to supporting reconciliation and fostering a culture of inclusion and respect.
We honour the history of Turtle Island. We recognize that our head offices are located on traditional Indigenous territories. Our Western Canada head office in Edmonton is situated on Treaty 6 territory, the traditional lands of the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Métis, Dene, and Nakota Sioux. Our Eastern Canada head office in Winnipeg is located on Treaty 1 territory, the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Anisininew, Dakota, and Dene peoples, and the homeland of the Métis Nation. We also recognize that we operate on the traditional territories of many Indigenous nations throughout Turtle Island. We acknowledge and respect the Indigenous leaders and people who are the original stewards of these lands.
As a company providing cleaning services from coast to coast, we recognize our duty to walk together in peace, friendship, and love. Bee-Clean pledges to foster the principles of Truth and Reconciliation. We honour and respect Indigenous perspectives and practices in our operations, ensuring respect for the land and its peoples. We are committed to building meaningful relationships with Indigenous peoples and honouring their contributions to business and economic growth across all communities. We recognize the right to self-governance and the role of business development rooted in the path towards truth and reconciliation.
